In the last 3 years we have developed a stock of equipment for a variety of activities. We have cycles of differing types and sizes, including tandems and a specialised 3-wheeled tandem. In addition we have equipment for climbing and abseiling, camping and we have Open Canoes and Double Kayaks. The funding for this has come mostly from school finance and donations to school fund, but in addition we are grateful to the following organisations:

The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

The cost of residentials is borne mostly from donations to school fund from

organisations such as the Cinderella Club and from parents own fund-raising activities, and also from school finance. Although we do ask parents for a voluntary contribution towards this cost we always subsidise these activities, and no child is excluded from residentials if he or she is unable to contribute.

Recently some pupils have been assisted by the National Blind Children’s Society with this cost.

For the Year 1997/8 the cost of our residential programme was as follows;

Class Residentials - £4348 (This was to provide 56 pupils with 2 nights away from home each)

Activity Residentials - £5218 (A total of 44 visually impaired children benefited from these activity residentials, and 23 staff were involved.
